Crash rated K4 Barriers at Healthcare Institutions

INTRODUCTION

In today’s world, perfect barriers and barriers to uninvited guests are extremely necessary. Road blockers are more and more needed and thanks to that we can be sure that our buildings are properly protected. There is nothing else as important as human life, and protective road barriers were created just to let people live peacefully and enjoy each day.

The Challenges

Our client is in the telecommunication space that is looking to expand their business portfolio to offer colocation data center solutions to their business partners and corporate clients.

The Solution

Project Overview

AEQON had proposed and installed surface-mounted crash arm barriers at several health institution buildings. The barrier has high stopping power with are designed for secure places which have high traffic flow. It has crash resistance is according to K4 standard (Finite Element Analysis). With the help of strong mechanical and hydraulic design, the hydraulic barriers offer long term durability.

The galvanized steel structure of the barriers is protected against corrosion. They are equipped with a hydraulic-electric drive, which is mounted in a control cabinet adequately protected from weather conditions.

Key Features

  • Has an emergency close feature that can operate at least 1.5 times faster than the standard run time
  • Integrated Flashing LED arm light and Battery Backup
  • Long-term durability of the crash arm barrier for continuous operation duty
  • Ability to prevent vehicle access to up to 6 tons @ 48km/hr.

The Outcome

The healthcare system is a vulnerable asset of the country that could become a target. Crash gate systems are essential as a physical security measure to prevent and protect against breaches or attacks.

Implementing An X-Ray Portal for Large Vehicles

INTRODUCTION

Thousands of vehicles travel across the customs checkpoints every day. They transport people, essential goods and materials. However, it can be a threat in disguise among these heavy vehicles and cargo. Security checks conducted at the customs are crucial in safeguarding the country’s security.

The Challenges

An immigration and customs agency wants a more efficient method to monitor their massive volume of incoming coaches and vans entering the country. One of the busiest land immigration customs can face 475,000 travellers daily during the peak festive seasons!

The Solution

Project Overview

Working closely with the agency, AEQON built and commissioned an X-ray scanning system to monitor their large incoming vehicles at the customs checkpoint. During the project, careful and detailed planning is needed at the busy checkpoint to minimise disruption.

The system has robust software and hardware integrated to monitor and ensure only authorised cargo enters the country. It can inspect 120 vehicles per hour, reducing the need for in-depth manual inspections by the customs officials, minimising disruption and speeding up clearance at checkpoints.

Our scanning portal ensures safe drive through, assuring both the operators and driver’s safety exposure to the radiation dose. AEQON has commissioned 2 such scanning portals for use since 2018.

Key Features

  • The driver need not alight the vehicle during scanning.
  • Ability to detect vehicles’ compartments that have been modified or might contain explosives
  • Ability to clear 120 vehicles per hour!

The Outcome

Our scanning portal at the checkpoint enhances security and operational efficiency. The officers can easily focus on inspecting the vehicles’ questionable compartments instead of inspecting the whole vehicle, which is time-consuming. This x-ray system enables custom officers to detect smuggling contraband, explosives, illegal immigrants and other threads concealed in the vehicles at the checkpoints faster. The X-ray system has since been implemented at two land immigration checkpoints of the country.

Amp Up the Communication Signals at an Offshore Island of Singapore

INTRODUCTION

A robust and non-disruptive cellular network is widely expected in any part of the world today. Telecommunication infrastructure is built and installed to facilitate wireless communication between subscribers’ devices and the operator network. However, telecommunication companies face significant network connectivity for the base transceiver station (BTS) of telecommunication towers, especially for the distant rural zones.

The Challenges

The offshore island site has many structures that are barriers to a robust telecommunication network, which will sometimes disrupt site operations. It can pose a security threat in the wireless mobile ad-hoc networks. The client wants to improve the network “blackholes” around the mega-site.

Due to the high sensitivity nature of the use of the island, accessing the site is heavily restricted; this means that careful planning of site visits and installations during the project is needed and followed accordingly to schedule.

The Solution

Project Overview

The BTS equipment is housed in a sheltered location as the primary communication site that protects the telecoms equipment from weather conditions. Battery Backup Units (BBU) are also installed for providing sufficient battery backup time to minimize the interruption of telecommunications in the event of electrical power outages.

Additionally, BTS equipment is installed at carefully selected positions such as roof-tops and several monopoles to maximize network coverage. Besides supplying RF cables and installation accessories, AEQON does the civil, mechanical & electrical works for this project.

The Outcome

The communication network on this offshore site has improved coverage and capacity with the successful implementation and integration of network interface devices (NID) and other integrated critical devices.

Education Campus Monitoring using 3D Interface

INTRODUCTION

Modernization of the security and facilities systems brings many benefits like reducing the operational cost and achieving greater efficiency while eliminating vulnerabilities inherent to legacy systems and human operator limitations. CCTV surveillance is greatly important in common spaces of an education campus as it helps to monitor crowds or other various security reasons. It can also serve as a deterrent security solution on the campus.

The Challenges

Lean operations team of a tertiary education institution looking to improve security efficiency while managing a 20-hectares campus ground with heavy human and vehicle flow.

The Solution

Project Overview

AEQON embarked on a technology modernization of the institution that involved the replacement of 600 analogue surveillance cameras and integrating the existing 1200 digital surveillance cameras into one video management system powered with intelligent video analytics.

The uniqueness of this project is implementing a 3D dashboard that allows the operators to have a comprehensive situation awareness of its facility. The application integrates both the Video Management System (VMS) and Video Analytic System (VAS) seamlessly onto a single platform.

Our implementation team worked closely with the campus team to understand and assess the campus traffic flow, critical and sensitive areas and discover any “blackhole” zones.

Key Features

The main highlight of this project is that it uses real-time data, analytics, videos, locations and events with 3D visualization to correctly interpret the real-time situation, make decisions, and respond to real-time situations. An example can be verifying the site conditions around the triggered fire alarm.

With video analytics capability, it aids the operators to manage illegal parking, intrusion detection, unattended bags and crowd management. Using the facial recognition feature helps the team identify VIPs entering the campus while notifying the security team about any presence of blacklisted individuals.

The Outcome

Having powerful building visualization tools will significantly improve emergency preparedness for the team.

Building Tier-Certified Data Centers

INTRODUCTION

Southeast Asia is seeing significant investment into digital infrastructure and Singapore is becoming a key regional data center hub over the years due to attractive operating environment such as availability of high-bandwidth communications infrastructure and the availability of reliable power transmission networks.

The Challenges

Our client is in the telecommunication space that is looking to expand their business portfolio to offer colocation data center solutions to their business partners and corporate clients.

The Solution

Project Overview

Converting an old office space to a functional data center with high security. The project covers both M&E and civil works. We have to install a variety of systems such as Power Systems, Cooling Systems, Fire Protection and Access Controls. We take into account of the physical protection of the site with perimeter protection and entrances. General works include setting up a visitor center and an office space to support the datacenter too.

Key Features

  • Holistic cooling systems for the Data Hall which includes Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) and Water Detection Systems with chilled water flow control
  • Installation of Fuel System to minimize the risks to the data center energy supply
  • Nearly 200 equipment racks with Cable Containment were installed.
  • Enhanced access controls for the visitors’ journey from the main entrance to data-hall

The Outcome

Our client rolled out its offerings to its customers immediately after we handover the site to its owner. We continue to work closely with our client for the monitoring and periodically servicing of the systems that we have installed at site. The closer the data is stored to its users, the better the services will perform. AEQON helps to our client to build a dedicated data center to open new frontiers with their clients.
